Jakarta — Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, announced that road testing of B50 biodiesel fuel has covered approximately 40,000 kilometres out of a planned 50,000 km target, with the trials expected to be completed by March 2026.

This timeline represents an acceleration compared to the previous estimate of mid-2026 completion.

“The road testing has already covered around 40,000 kilometres. Hopefully, we expect it to be completed in March,” Yuliot stated at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The testing has been conducted on various vehicles, including Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, and bus transport vehicles.

“For the vehicles that have been tested, we have evaluated them, and there is no adverse impact on the vehicles concerned. In terms of efficiency, the results are quite good,” he said.

Yuliot indicated that the government will continue conducting B50 biodiesel trials on other modes of transport, including railways, which are planned to commence after the Eid holiday.

The acceleration of road testing is intended to ensure readiness for B50 biodiesel implementation in the transport sector, which is targeted to begin in the second half of 2026.
