Jakarta — Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, has assured the public that the price of RON 90 petrol, commonly known as Pertalite, will not increase, at least until the end of the first quarter of 2026.

The assurance comes amid a sharp rise in global crude oil prices driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Nevertheless, the government has committed to maintaining the Pertalite price at 10,000 rupiahs per litre.

“The Minister has already stated that there will be no price increase for Pertalite through the end of the first quarter of 2026,” Yuliot Tanjung said at the BPH Migas (Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Body) office in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Despite this commitment, Yuliot emphasised that the government will continue to monitor global oil price developments in light of the energy subsidy and compensation allocations in the 2026 State Budget.

Should an evaluation become necessary, Yuliot assured that any adjustments would be undertaken jointly with other relevant ministries to determine the next steps regarding the Pertalite price.

“We will evaluate the developments in global oil prices and assess how we allocate subsidies and compensation in our budget,” Yuliot stated. “We will also discuss with relevant ministries regarding any adjustments to the subsidised Pertalite RON 90 programme,” he added.

Earlier, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia had affirmed that subsidised fuel prices would not increase until the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026.

“Through the Eid al-Fitr celebration, there will, God willing, be no increase in subsidised fuel prices,” he said.
