Deputy Defence Minister Receives Investment and Downstream Processing Deputy Minister, Discusses Synergies in Industrial Development and National Defence
Jakarta – Indonesia’s Deputy Defence Minister (Wamenhan RI) Donny Ermawan Taufanto received a visit from Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Processing/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Defence Ministry office on Wednesday (25 February 2026).
The meeting discussed efforts to accelerate the realisation of strategic investments to strengthen the national industrial ecosystem whilst supporting the government’s downstream processing policy.
The Deputy Defence Minister emphasised that strengthening downstream processing is a strategic step aligned with national policy in promoting industrial independence. Furthermore, it is important to ensure that investment integration with the national ecosystem is optimised, including opportunities for collaboration with state-owned enterprises (BUMN), so that economic benefits can be felt optimally and sustainably.
The discussion also highlighted technical challenges on the ground, particularly concerning land utilisation in areas that partly overlap with TNI military training zones.
As follow-up action, inter-ministerial and inter-agency coordination will continue to be strengthened to ensure policy alignment and accelerate implementation, thereby delivering tangible impacts on national economic growth and strengthening national defence.
During this visit, the Deputy Defence Minister was accompanied by the Defence Ministry’s Director General of Strategic Interests, the Deputy for Geo-Economics of the National Strategic Policy Office, and the Sub-Director of Defence Area Spatial Planning of the Defence Ministry’s Strategic Affairs Directorate General.
