Deputy Minister of Defence (Wamenhan) Donny Ermawan Taufanto held discussions with Universitas Indonesia (UI) Rector Heri Hermansyah at the Wamenhan’s office in Jakarta on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The discussion focused on cooperation for organising a special international class at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with the Ministry of Defence.
In an official release from the Ministry of Defence, the meeting discussed cooperation to enhance the knowledge and capacity of defence human resources within the Ministry of Defence and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The cooperation is carried out through study assignment programmes at various faculties at Universitas Indonesia.
Donny stated that strengthening the quality of human resources is important as one of the foundations in building the country’s defence strength. For him, collaboration with universities is the way forward.
“In order to produce superior, competent defence human resources who are capable of answering the challenges of an increasingly complex strategic environment,” he said in an official statement from the Ministry of Defence on Friday, 19 June 2026.
The meeting also discussed expanding the scope of cooperation that has been established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Defence and Universitas Indonesia. However, the Ministry of Defence did not elaborate on the development of this cooperation.
Both parties also explored the addition of other faculties related to the Ministry of Defence’s programmes, including the organisation of a special international class at FISIP UI.
Accompanying the Deputy Minister were the Commander of the National Air Defence Command (Pangkohanudnas), the Director General of Defence Strength (Dirjen Kuathan Kemhan), and the Deputy for Geopolitics at the National Defence Council (DPN).
