Deputy Defence Minister Delivers National Defence Briefing for Civil Servants
Makassar (ANTARA) — Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan delivered a national defence strengthening session for civil servants within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government at a Ramadan Leadership Camp held at the Sudiang Hajj Dormitory in Makassar on Sunday.
Speaking in Makassar, he stressed the importance of equipping civil servants with national awareness and a spirit of defending the state as part of the defence system.
“This week-long retreat with its various activities can, I believe, enhance the capabilities of these civil servants,” he said before hundreds of attendees.
“They are being recharged — what had begun to fade is being restored through renewed understanding, so they will work better and their nationalism will be rekindled,” he continued.
He also expressed his appreciation to South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman for initiating the programme. According to him, participants’ enthusiasm was clearly evident throughout the activities.
“From what I observed, they were very enthusiastic. Civil servants must carry out their duties properly. I conveyed that the foundation of our defence is unity,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, he noted that national defence materials and national awareness briefings serve as vital reinforcement for all civil servants.
According to him, national defence is not solely the responsibility of the Indonesian Armed Forces and the National Police, but is the duty of all elements of the nation, including civil servants in carrying out their governance and public service functions.
“We express our gratitude for the willingness and time given to share valuable knowledge and experience with all Ramadan Leadership Camp participants. We hope this strengthening further solidifies the spirit of service for a more advanced and sovereign Indonesia,” he said.
