Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Dedi Prasetyo delivered strategic guidance to the ranks during the 2026 Polri Public Relations Strategic Coordination Meeting in Jakarta.

In his address, the Deputy Chief of Police appreciated the improving quality of media management strategies year on year. “Public relations is the voice and ear of the institution. This role places public relations at the forefront as well as the last line of defence in safeguarding the honour of Polri,” said Dedi.

More than just spokespersons, the Deputy Chief of Police stated that Polri public relations personnel are strategic communicators who must be able to manage public perception, particularly in building public trust.

“Public relations is not merely a spokesperson, but a strategic communication hub that manages public perception, builds trust, and counters disinformation to support institutional legitimacy,” said Dedi.

The Deputy Chief of Police emphasised that the Public Relations Division must be capable of transforming through an intelligence-led communication approach, optimising big data and artificial intelligence-based systems such as real-time monitoring, intelligent analysis, and rapid responses to issues.

He also underscored the importance of using a communication framework based on accuracy, relevance, and clear objectives in every content production.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of internalising public relations functions throughout the entire Polri organisation. Referring to Perkap Number 6 of 2023, public relations functions are not only borne by public relations personnel, but by all Polri members.

“In the midst of the rapid flow of information, every personnel must possess good, accurate, and empathetic communication skills,” he explained.

In the context of long-term development, Dedi reminded all public relations ranks to understand the direction of national policy through the RPJPN 2025-2045, including the eight national development agendas and digital transformation as the main pillar. This is important so that Polri’s public communications align with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

This former Head of Polri Public Relations Division also explained the Polri grand strategy 2025–2045, which is divided into four stages, from strengthening the organisational foundation to realising an adaptive, integrity-driven, and community-oriented Polri.

Polri’s five main objectives must also be achieved in a measurable manner, from maintaining security and public order, fair and humane law enforcement, to transformation towards a modern, technology-based organisation.
