Jakarta - Deputy Chair of DPR RI Commission X, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, has urged President Prabowo Subianto to abolish the Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja (PPPK) scheme for teachers. Instead, he proposes that the government unify all teacher recruitment or appointments through the Calon Pegawai Negeri Sipil (CPNS) pathway. “It is time for the government to carry out a comprehensive overhaul of teacher governance in Indonesia. The current teacher clustering system, including PPPK and part-time PPPK, must be abolished and merged into a single national civil service system through the CPNS route,” Lalu Hadrian stated in his official remarks to Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026). He further noted that the existence of PPPK and part-time PPPK leads to overlapping regulations and triggers uncertainty in status for educators. “Many teachers have become victims of an unsynchronised system. Some face delayed salary payments, unclear career development, and even welfare disparities across regions,” Lalu Hadrian said. He also advocated for halting teacher recruitment through that scheme, with all future governance needing to be under central government control. In this way, the recruitment process, distribution, career development, and teacher welfare could run more integrated and evenly. “If teacher recruitment is done through a single CPNS route and managed centrally, the state can ensure better quality, equity, and welfare for teachers,” he stated. “Teachers are the foundation of the nation’s future, so the state must provide a fair and certain system,” he concluded.
