JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono stated that Indonesia has a surplus of sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. National livestock availability reached 3.2 million head, exceeding the estimated national demand of 2.4 million. Sudaryono said Indonesia has a surplus of approximately 800,000 sacrificial animals this Eid al-Adha. “There is a surplus of about 800,000. This means, alhamdulillah, Allah has bestowed His mercy and provision upon our nation,” Sudaryono said in Jakarta on Wednesday (27/5/2025), as reported by Antara. He considered the achievement a positive indicator for national conditions, including growth and food security. He stressed that negative perceptions of the country’s situation do not align with ground realities. “Amid global conflicts, we are in a good state, which we must collectively be grateful for,” Sudaryono said. He attributed the situation to government efforts under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership and the cabinet to maintain national stability. “The government, our President, ministers, cabinet, and all apparatus are working hard to ensure our nation remains in good condition, functioning well, and, God willing, as we all pray, our country stays well,” Sudaryono added. Meanwhile, Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, said national sacrificial animal availability is safe and controlled. “The total projected availability is 3.2 million head, comprising 860,000 cattle, 34,000 buffaloes, 1.4 million goats, and 935,000 sheep,” Agung said. According to Agung, national demand for sacrificial animals this year is estimated at around 2.4 million head, leaving a surplus of approximately 800,000. He noted the surplus demonstrates the national livestock sector’s capacity to meet public demand without significant supply issues during Eid al-Adha.
