Deputy Agriculture Minister Ensures Safe Meat Stocks Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, Rice Stock at 4.06 Million Tonnes
JAKARTA - Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono has assured that food stocks and prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran 2026 are safe and under control.
The strategic commodities include maize, soybeans, shallots, garlic, chicken meat, beef, and rice. Supply adequacy and prices are also in line with the Highest Retail Price (HET).
“I convey that all strategic commodities—rice, maize, soybeans, shallots, garlic, chillies, chicken meat, beef or buffalo meat, eggs, sugar, and cooking oil—facing Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah shortly, are in a safe condition,” said Sudaryono during a press conference updating infrastructure readiness ahead of Nyepi Day and Lebaran at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
This amount is still projected to increase to 28 million tonnes, as rice harvests will continue in the coming weeks.
“The 28 million tonnes of rice equals our capacity; our food security, rice resilience, can reach 324 days or approximately 10.8 or 11 months ahead. So our food condition is very strong,” stated Sudaryono.
Similar to rice, these commodities will continue to increase along with the harvest season phenomenon in various regions.
