Deported workers sue labor agency

JAKARTA: Eight Indonesian migrant workers, who were deported by the South Korean government shortly after their arrival on March 15, reported an Indonesian labor agency's director who allegedly deceived them, to the city police on Tuesday.

The workers, mostly come from Bitung, North Sulawesi, were released after being detained for 30 hours for fake document procession.

One of them said that he and his friends had paid a total of Rp 17.5 million (US$1,870) to get a job in a packaging plant in Korea. They were greatly disappointed when it turned out there were no jobs for them.

"PT Visa Fis Prima (a labor agency) refused to return their money," said the workers' lawyer, Heppy Wajoengkere.--JP
