A Belgian foreigner with initials SD has been deported from Bali. The 31-year-old man went viral for recklessly jumping into the sea on a rented motorbike from the cliff at Balangan Beach, South Kuta, Badung, Bali. SD had attempted to flee to Malaysia before being caught and deported.

Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, confirmed that SD violated Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. SD was deemed to have engaged in dangerous activities that were suspected of threatening public safety and order.

“We have also officially submitted his name to be included in the blacklist or entry ban list,” Bugie stated in his remarks on Friday (3/4/2026).

During interrogation by officers, SD admitted that the cliff-jumping incident occurred in March 2026. He also claimed the dangerous act was due to his hobby. The video was recorded by SD’s companion, an Austrian citizen, and later uploaded to SD’s personal Instagram account.

However, the cliff-to-sea jump caused issues as the motorbike rented from Putu Rental Bike Bali was severely damaged. When asked to take responsibility, SD refused to pay compensation, citing inability to do so.

Ngurah Rai Immigration then summoned SD for clarification. Instead, he fled to Sorong, West Papua, on 25 March. SD continued his escape to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 30 March.

Prior to that, SD transited at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar. Makassar Immigration officers detected SD’s presence and secured him to be returned to Bali.

Upon arrival in Bali, SD underwent examination at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. He finally settled the compensation payment for the motorbike to the rental owner. SD was then repatriated to his home country via Qatar Airways flight (QR963) to Doha.

“We ensure there is no room for compromise for foreign nationals who violate regulations and attempt to avoid legal processes in our jurisdiction,” Bugie emphasised.

Previously reported, the video of SD riding the motorbike and jumping from the Balangan Beach cliff went viral on social media. The motorbike used was tied with rope to prevent it from falling into the ravine. Several people were seen cheering from atop the cliff after SD performed the dangerous stunt.
