A community of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (UMKM) operators in Depok has developed various social initiatives to strengthen mutual concern within the small business sector. One such initiative involves aid distribution to orphans from UMKM operator families, organised during Ramadan.

Henny Juliana, chairwoman of the Sahabat Amanina Depok Community, stated that the activity also serves as a space to strengthen networks among UMKM operators in Depok. According to Henny, solidarity among small business operators is important for mutual strengthening, particularly for business operator families requiring social support.

“We organise this orphan aid activity annually as a form of concern by Sahabat Amanina towards UMKM families in Depok. Additionally, this event serves as an opportunity for fellowship and unity among Sahabat Amanina members during Ramadan through breaking fast together,” said Henny in her statement on Monday (16 March 2026).

The activity took place at PINTU Store in Depok, managed by the Maharani Kirana Pertiwi Foundation. This location has been developed as a creative business space with a social enterprise concept that combines economic activity with community literacy programmes.

Putu Anggreni, co-founder of the Maharani Kirana Pertiwi Foundation, explained that PINTU Store collects usable goods such as clothing and household items from the community to resell at affordable prices. Sales revenue is then used to support village library development.

“Through PINTU Store, we collect clothing and various items from friends that are still usable to sell at very affordable prices. Besides helping the community obtain quality goods at lower costs, all sales revenue is used 100 per cent to purchase books and develop the village libraries we have established,” said Putu.

According to Putu, the development of this social enterprise supports the target of establishing 100 village and community libraries across various regions in Indonesia. The programme aims to expand literacy access whilst encouraging communities to remain productive through reading culture.

Currently, the network of village libraries initiated by the foundation operates in 28 locations across various regions in Indonesia, including in Citayam and Bojonggede, which are located near Depok.

The network is spread across several regions ranging from Samosir Island in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Sulawesi, Flores, and Southeast Maluku.

During the activity, participants also attended a Ramadan religious sermon delivered by Ustad Muda Abdullah Gymnastiar from At Tayba Islamic Boarding School in Depok. Through inspirational stories of the prophets and the struggles during the time of Prophet Muhammad, participants were encouraged to strengthen their faith whilst also fostering social concern.

Putu added that the social movement undertaken by the foundation is also supported by members of the Langkah Kemenangan Group Community, most of whom consist of business operators and financial planners.

“Through this foundation, partners in the Langkah Kemenangan Group can continue to develop with a greater vision. We want to continue opening spaces for creativity, employment opportunities, and opportunities to contribute to communities in need,” said Putu.
