The Depok City Government (Pemkot) has begun building tennis courts and a jogging track within the City Hall complex. The sports facilities will be available for public use free of charge.

Depok Mayor Supian Suri stated that the construction is part of the Depok City Hall area’s redevelopment. He noted that the limited availability of tennis courts in Depok has led to high rental costs, prompting the decision to build free courts.

“This City Hall is still being renovated. I want to build a tennis court, a lawn tennis court, not padel. Because many tennis enthusiasts are currently struggling to find courts, making rental fees very expensive,” Supian said on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

Supian hopes the availability of tennis courts at Depok City Hall will provide an alternative for residents to exercise without incurring rental costs. “Hopefully, the presence of the tennis court at City Hall will become a space that the community can utilise without having to pay,” he said.

In addition to the tennis courts, the Depok City Government is also constructing a new jogging track with a longer route. This facility will complement the existing jogging track to make it easier for residents to exercise more comfortably. “So there will be two jogging tracks. The current one is about 300 metres, and a wider track will be added so that runners are not obstructed by groups of walkers,” he explained.

According to him, the additional jogging track is necessary due to the high level of public enthusiasm for exercising in the Depok City Hall area, especially in the mornings and afternoons. All facilities are being built using the government budget. “This City Hall belongs to the community. We want the community to own this place and enjoy all the facilities we have prepared,” he stressed.
