Depok Residents Prepare for Margonda Flyover and Citayam Underpass Construction in 2027
The Depok City Government plans to construct the Margonda flyover and the Citayam underpass. The Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, stated that both projects are targeted to begin construction in 2027.
“Regarding the Margonda flyover, we hope to begin the groundbreaking and construction in 2027,” Supian stated, as seen on his Instagram account on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
He noted that the Depok City Government and the Bogor Regency Government are currently working to facilitate land acquisition for the Citayam underpass project.
“For the underpass, we are collaborating with the Bogor Regency Government because land acquisition efforts are necessary. As for the flyover, no land acquisition is required as it utilises existing land,” he explained.
Supian explained that the primary obstacle is that the project involves significant amounts of residents’ land. However, both the Depok City Government and the Bogor Regency Government have allocated budgets for these projects.
“For the underpass, there is a lot of community land in both Depok and Bogor. We have collaborated with Bogor Regency and have allocated a budget for 2027 to handle land acquisition in the Depok and Bogor areas,” he clarified.
“Hopefully, we can accelerate the acquisition process so that construction can begin in 2027,” he concluded.
It is reported that the Depok City Government has prepared a budget of Rp 80 billion for land acquisition for the underpass at the Citayam level railway crossing. The acceleration of this project must be carried out in conjunction with the Bogor Regency Government, as the road connects Depok City and Bogor Regency.
Furthermore, the Depok City Government has allocated Rp 250 billion for the Margonda flyover project. This is intended as a solution to address traffic congestion in the Margonda area.
The planned 460-metre-long flyover will run from the Spesial Sambal restaurant to Toyota near Depok Town Square, featuring a two-way system with an express lane. Additionally, a 300-metre one-way section will extend from Jalan Ir Juanda towards Jalan Margonda.
