DEPOK: Residents no longer have to present the Motor Vehicle Ownership Book (BPKB) when paying the annual motor vehicle tax at Samsat Depok, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

A resident from Jatijajar, Yosi, 45, was instructed to store the original BPKB and only prepare photocopied attachments as required for payment. “I did not show the BPKB. When I arrived, the person at the photocopy desk asked me to keep my BPKB, so I went straight to the cashier to pay without showing it, and it was processed immediately,” Yosi said at the site on Wednesday.

“Today it was less of a hassle (to bring BPKB) because the photocopied attachments suffice. The aim is to be faster and more concise, since people who work often spend a whole day dealing with this at Samsat,” she added.

A different experience was reported by Rian, 30, from Beji, who still showed the BPKB at the Samsat Depok window. He paid for his five-year motorcycle tax. When he proceeded to the registration counter, he was still asked to attach a photocopy and show the BPKB upon arrival at the counter.

“He said at the time that during the physical check of the motorcycle and at registration, they asked for photocopies of the BPKB, STNK, and ID card. Then at the counter, I showed the BPKB,” he said.

He noted that the policy implemented by Dedi Mulyadi apparently applies to annual taxes rather than five-year payments, adding, “As far as I know, it seems to be for annual taxes (not needing the original BPKB), but I’m not sure if that’s correct.”

Previously, Dedi Mulyadi announced a new policy related to motor vehicle tax services in Depok, Kota Bekasi, and Kabupaten Bekasi. Starting today, Tuesday (3 March 2026), the public is no longer required to bring the original BPKB or photocopies when paying motor vehicle tax.

“Especially for West Java residents in the Depok area, who previously had to bring the BPKB to pay motor vehicle tax, from today you do not need to bring the original BPKB or photocopies. And the service can be done directly,” Dedi said in a video statement to Kompas.com on Tuesday.
