Depok Residents Channel Rp512 Million in Aid for Palestine via Baznas
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Residents of Depok, West Java, represented by the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) Depok, have channelled humanitarian donations for Palestine amounting to Rp512,437,028 through Baznas RI as a form of solidarity and support for the country.
Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, said that the humanitarian donations from Depok residents to assist the people of Palestine have shown significant figures so far. Since 2024, Baznas Depok has secured a total aid of Rp2.7 billion.
“Baznas Central has once again received the entrusted trust from Baznas Depok, which after 2024 secured Rp2.7 billion and now Baznas Depok has entrusted us with Rp512 million for the people of Palestine,” he said.
Sodik expressed his gratitude for the positive trend of public generosity that continues to grow in supporting humanitarian missions.
This phenomenon is considered very encouraging because the spirit to help fellow humans, especially fellow believers and people in distress, shows a continuously increasing significant graph.
The distribution of this aid serves as motivation for Baznas RI to continue rallying support and ensuring effective distribution through cooperation with the government.
In addition to logistical aid, Baznas is also preparing a scheme for building public facilities in Palestine, which is planned to be entrusted through Indonesian peacekeeping forces.
“There are two ways, insha’Allah, that we will carry out the distribution, first with the Republic of Indonesia Government on 17 August, and the second has been conveyed to Mr President if he deems it appropriate, we will entrust it if Mr President sends peacekeeping forces; we will entrust it to those forces to build public facilities in Gaza and in Palestine,” Sodik stated.
Meanwhile, Baznas Depok Chairman Endang Ahmad Yani said that this humanitarian donation is a manifestation of brotherhood and solidarity among Muslims.
He hopes that the aid collected from donors, muzakki, and philanthropists in Depok can help alleviate the suffering of the people in Palestine.
“Hopefully with this Rp512 million fund, it can help ease the burden of our friends and brothers in Palestine,” Endang remarked.
