Depok Residents Can Leave Their Vehicles at Police Stations During Lebaran Homecoming
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Ahead of the Lebaran mudik season, the Depok Metro Police (Polres Metro Depok) are providing a free vehicle storage service for members of the public who will leave their homes to return to their hometowns. This facility is prepared to provide residents with a sense of security who are worried about leaving their vehicles at home during the mudik period. The Head of Public Affairs at Depok Metro Police (Kasat Binmas) Ahmad Haerudin said the public can use the service free of charge. He explained that the requirements to deposit a vehicle are straightforward. Residents only need to bring personal identification and vehicle documents when they come to the police station. ‘The requirements are simply a KTP (identity card) and STNK. Mudik travellers can visit the nearest Polres or Polsek from their home,’ he said. This programme is part of the police’s efforts to help people undertake their mudik journeys with greater peace of mind. By entrusting their vehicle at a police station, the risk of theft or other crime while the home is left unoccupied during mudik is hoped to be minimised. The peak of the return flow is expected to occur on 25–26 March for the first wave, and 28–29 March 2026 for the second wave.
