Police have revealed that the case of alleged criminal damage to a resident’s home, who was terrorised by a neighbour in Pancoran Mas, Depok City, West Java, has been escalated to investigation level. The case was elevated after police conducted a case review and found elements of a criminal offence.

“For the latest update, the case has progressed to the investigation stage,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Depok Metro Police, AKBP Made Gede Oka, when contacted on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

Made said the police would next re-examine witnesses and gather evidence. To date, there has been no request for mediation between the two parties in the case.

“The follow-up is at the investigation stage, with all processes conducted in accordance with criminal investigation procedure. This includes summoning witnesses again and collecting evidence. The reported party will certainly be examined, and the victim will also be summoned,” he said.

“There has been nothing yet on mediation — no discussion or request from either the complainant or the reported party in that direction. So everything is still in process,” he added.

Triggered by a Long-Running Dispute

Police have revealed the results of their examination of the suspected perpetrator of the criminal damage to a resident’s home in Pancoran Mas, Depok City, West Java. The two parties have frequently been at odds, or in conflict, since 2024.

“As I mentioned some time ago, this problem dates back to 2024. They have indeed been in dispute since that year. The reported party also has their own version, saying there have been some disagreements and quarrels,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Depok Metro Police, AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama, when contacted by journalists on Monday (20/7).

AKBP Made said the victim and the reported party have frequently clashed since 2024. That dispute had also been mediated by several parties but continued up to the damage to the victim’s fence.

“And in 2024, there was a dispute between the reported party and the complainant. However, no police report was filed at the time because they were reconciled by local residents, the neighbourhood and community unit heads (RT/RW), as well as the Bhabinkamtibmas police officer. The conflict then dragged on until now,” he explained.

Since then, Made continued, the two parties have continued to be at odds. Because the victim could no longer tolerate the suspected perpetrator’s behaviour, it eventually resulted in a police report being filed.

“So, from the reported party’s version, based on the examination results I have just read, if it is said they held a grudge, it was not exactly a grudge. What it means is that since then they have continually been at odds and frequently quarrelling,” he said.

“Eventually the incident last week occurred. The victim felt they could no longer stand it, as mediation had been attempted repeatedly. In the end, they filed a report regarding the criminal damage,” he added.

As is known, the home of the Azis Suraji family in Pancoran Mas, Depok, became the target of terror by their neighbour. The terror became so severe that the Azis family decided to sell their house.

The neighbour’s campaign of terror went viral on social media. From the circulating CCTV footage, a man can be seen throwing a helmet at the neighbour’s house belonging to the Azis family. Before throwing the helmet, the man had been riding back and forth on a motorcycle in front of the victim’s fence.

On a different day, the same man can be seen throwing rubbish at the victim’s house. Several residents attempted to intervene, but a commotion broke out.
