Depok Resident Appeals to Comedian Debi Ceper to Facilitate a Running Race After It Was Disbanded

A Depok resident named Bayu has voiced his appeal to comedian Debi Ceper, asking that running races staged in public spaces be permitted and facilitated in Depok during the month of Ramadan. Bayu’s message was sent via a private Instagram message to Debi some time ago and was subsequently made public. The events attracted a sizeable audience, with some spectators reportedly joining the improvised running races. ‘We always seek routes that are safe and quiet, as we want to be entertained by the spectacle of youth; that is why we organise running races,’ Bayu told Kompas.com on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. He said he had previously attended and watched illicit running races in the Limo area of Depok, but the event was dispersed by police, leaving participants and spectators to hide. He suspects the activity was deemed disruptive to local residents, especially motorists passing by. ‘Therefore I am speaking up to request facilitation, because there is so much talent in the world of running.’ His appearance aligns with Debi’s past involvement in organising running races with the police chief in other areas, such as Tangerang Selatan. Debi stated she had met with the Depok Police Chief, Kombes Pol Abdul Waras, on Tuesday (3 March 2026). ‘I was received well by the Depok Police Chief. The plan is to hold a running race for friends, to be organised at the police station and City Hall,’ Debi explained on Wednesday. The running races are planned to take place at the sub-district level across all police sectors on Friday (6 March 2026), followed by a final round at Depok City Hall on Saturday night (7 March 2026).
