The Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (Dinas PUPR) of Depok City, West Java, has ensured that personnel from the Water Resources Task Force (Satgas SDA) and disaster management teams remain on full alert during the Eid holiday period of 1447 Hijri / 2026 CE. This measure is being taken to mitigate potential flooding and landslide disasters amid high rainfall.

Rizwan Nurrahim, Head of the Water Resources Division at Depok’s Dinas PUPR, emphasised that public services remain a top priority even during collective leave. “We are not giving the task force and disaster management teams time off during the Eid 1447 Hijri 2026 holiday. Rainfall remains high, creating potential for flooding and landslides,” said Rizwan in Depok on Monday (16/3).

Commitment to Service Excellence

According to Rizwan, this policy aligns with the principle of service excellence and public service. For him, ensuring the safety and comfort of citizens amid extreme weather threats is the core of bureaucratic reform. “Public satisfaction is the primary measure of government apparatus performance success,” he stressed.

He added that meeting the rights and needs of the public is a form of government satisfaction, where the services provided must align with public expectations. Dinas PUPR places transparency and accountability as the primary foundation of its operations. “Public satisfaction is not merely a target, but rather a measure of government success in delivering quality, transparent, and accountable services,” Rizwan explained.

Mapping Vulnerable Areas

To secure the flow of holiday travellers, Dinas PUPR has deployed hundreds of personnel distributed across various strategic locations. The team’s primary focus is rapid response in the event of water blockages or ground movement.

“We have deployed 154 task force members and disaster management team personnel at vulnerable points for flooding and landslides during the holiday travel periods,” said Rizwan.

The agency has mapped vulnerable areas across 63 villages and 11 districts throughout Depok City. Rizwan noted that nearly all villages in Depok are under intensive monitoring, particularly areas with unstable soil contours and dense drainage systems.

“Our personnel are deployed in the field to ensure holiday travel remains safe, smooth, and happy despite potential extreme weather,” he explained.

Areas receiving special attention include Cimanggis District, Sukmajaya, Cipayung, Sawangan, Bojongsari, and central city areas such as Margonda Street. As a preventive measure, Dinas PUPR continues to conduct ongoing mitigation efforts. “Affected areas include Cimanggis District, Sukmajaya District, Cipayung District, Sawangan District, Bojongsari District, and densely populated areas such as Margonda Street. Depok City’s Dinas PUPR conducts mitigation through canal normalisation,” he concluded.
