The Depok Metropolitan Police carried out surprise urine tests on all personnel. The police chief down to precinct heads were tested, with all results coming back negative.

“Today we conducted a surprise urine testing exercise in accordance with the National Police Chief’s instruction to check the urine of all personnel,” Depok Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Abdul Waras told reporters on Monday (23/2/2026).

He said senior officials of the Depok Metropolitan Police underwent urine tests first following a meeting, in order to set an example for other members.

“So today we carried out urine checks on senior officials of the police station and all precinct heads. It so happened that the meeting had just ended, so we immediately conducted the tests on the spot — we are leading by example for our members,” he said.

“Before we conduct urine checks on rank-and-file members, the senior officials from the Police Chief to precinct heads underwent testing first as a follow-up to the National Police Chief’s directive,” he added.

He said the urine tests conducted that day covered everyone from the Police Chief to precinct heads. A total of 36 senior officials along with several Internal Affairs personnel were tested first.

“The results are already in — as you could see for yourselves, all negative. So we are setting an example: these checks are not just for ordinary members, but senior officials are tested first before we proceed with checks on the wider force,” he said.
