A robbery occurred at a minimarket in Cimanggis, Depok, on Monday evening (18 May). Depok Metropolitan Police Regional Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama stated that four suspects were involved.

“We have identified that two suspects entered the minimarket, while two others waited outside,” AKBP Made told reporters at the Depok Metropolitan Police headquarters on Monday (25 May).

He explained that two suspects entered the store while two others remained outside. The suspects threatened the minimarket staff.

“There were no injuries to staff, but they were threatened, and the incident qualifies as theft with violence,” he added.

Made said the suspects used a sharp weapon and possibly a firearm. They stole Rp36 million from the minimarket’s safe.

“The suspects threatened with sharp weapons. We also suspect one of them had a firearm. The loss, based on the victim’s report, amounts to Rp36 million in cash from the minimarket’s safe,” he explained.

The case is currently under investigation by Depok Metropolitan Police in coordination with Jakarta Timur Police to track down the suspects. Coordination is ongoing as the robbery gang in Depok is suspected to be the same as those involved in a previous minimarket robbery in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

“We are coordinating with Jakarta Timur Police to see if there are similarities in the cases. We are still coordinating on this matter,” he said.

“For the incident at the Cimanggis minimarket, we are still pursuing the suspects. We ask for your prayers that it is resolved soon,” he concluded.
