Depok Mayor Bans Processional Takbir and Firecracker Explosions to Welcome Eid al-Fitr

The Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, has issued a circular prohibiting processional takbir for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. The circular also regulates the prohibition on exploding firecrackers.

“In order to maintain public order, security, and comfort, as well as to enhance the devotion during the takbir night leading up to Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 AD,” stated Supian in the written circular on Friday (20/3/2026).

Circular Number 300/139/Satpol.PP/2026 regarding Guidance on Conducting Eid al-Fitr Takbir 1447 H/2026 AD Without Processional Takbir was issued on 12 March.

Supian urged all Depok residents to perform takbir at their respective mosques or prayer halls. Processional takbir using vehicles or on foot on public roads is not permitted.

“Thirdly, Camats, Lurahs, community leaders, and mosque/mushola DKM administrators are to encourage the public to maintain order and tranquillity in the environment. Fourthly, all Depok residents are urged not to sound off firecrackers or fireworks,” Supian emphasised.

Fifthly, TNI, Police, Depok Municipal Civil Service Police Unit, and related parties will conduct supervision to ensure the guidance is properly implemented. “The public is asked to continue maintaining order, safety, and mutual comfort,” he concluded.
