Depok Man's Heinous Plot: Murder, Mutilation, and Motorcycle Theft
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Saepul, for the alleged murder and mutilation of Kunaefi (51) in Pancoran Mas, Depok. Following the killing, Saepul stole the victim’s motorcycle and sold it in Pandeglang, Banten. “After committing the act, the perpetrator took the victim’s motorcycle to Panimbang and sold it,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Wednesday (5/8/2026).
Saepul killed Kunaefi during a meeting at a rented house in Cipayung, Depok, on 23 July 2026. The victim died after being stabbed in the stomach and having his throat slit. “The meeting ended in an argument, leading the perpetrator to stab the victim in the stomach and slash his neck with a knife,” he stated.
To cover his tracks, Saepul mutilated the victim’s legs. The body was dumped in Tanah Merah, while the two legs were discarded in a river in the Pitara area, Depok. Budi explained that Saepul’s presence in Pandeglang was part of an attempt to flee. However, thanks to the swift action of the Polda Metro Jaya Criminal Investigation Directorate’s Sub-Directorate of Violent Crime, led by AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, the perpetrator was quickly apprehended. “Saepul has now been detained by the Sub-Directorate of Violent Crime to undergo further investigation,” Budi said. Saepul was arrested less than 24 hours after the mutilated body was found, at 4.15 a.m. WIB on Wednesday (5/8).
Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto explained that Kunaefi and Saepul became acquainted through social media. The online interaction led to an agreement to meet at a rented house in the Cipayung area of Depok City. “Saepul (SA) and the victim got to know each other through social media before agreeing to meet at a rented house in the Cipayung area on 23 July 2026,” said Budi Hermanto. Their meeting resulted in an argument, during which Saepul killed Kunaefi by stabbing him with a knife. “The meeting ended in an argument, leading the perpetrator to stab the victim in the stomach and slash his neck with a knife,” Budi clarified.
After ensuring Kunaefi was dead, Saepul sought to eliminate evidence. He cut off the victim’s legs at the upper thigh, then wrapped the body parts separately in sacks. “The perpetrator mutilated the victim’s body at the upper thigh, wrapped the remains in black plastic and sacks, then dumped the torso in the Tanah Merah area, while the severed legs were thrown into a river in the Pitara area, Pancoran Mas,” Budi said. Kunaefi’s mutilated body was discovered on a vacant plot of land in Pancoran Mas, Depok, on Tuesday (4/8). Before the discovery, residents had noticed the sack since 24 July 2026 but did not realise it contained a mutilated corpse. A witness who thought the sack contained rubbish attempted to burn it, only to discover the victim’s remains inside. Kunaefi’s body was found unclothed, with a slash wound to the neck, his hands bound, and both legs severed.
