Depok man with mental illness goes on rampage, shatters car window; taken to psychiatric hospital

DEPOK, Beji district – A man with mental illness (ODGJ) went on a rampage in Beji, Depok, smashing car windows and alarming residents. The Maung Asri Team of Beji Village Administration received the report on Thursday, 5 March 2026. ‘The reports we received indicate that the actions of the man with mental illness disturbed residents, including breaking car windows,’ said Tri Sakti Anggoro, head of the Maung Team, when contacted on Friday, 6 March 2026. The Maung Asri Team also coordinated with other agencies, including Satpol PP, the Puskesmas, and the Dinas Sosial. Subsequently, they secured the man near the Margonda flyover, where he was wearing only blue shorts and no shirt, and evacuated him to RSJ Marzuki Mahdi in Bogor for treatment. ‘We handled this incident by evacuating him in a procedural manner and transporting him to RSJ Marzuki Mahdi Bogor for care,’ Sakti said. He emphasised that the Maung Team would continue to actively follow up on residents’ reports of incidents or disturbances and report the outcomes openly via social media.
