Depok Firefighter Receives Threats After Creating Content About Helmets Not Being Used to 'Destroy' Heads, Allegedly Mocking the Police?
A firefighter in Depok, Khairul Umam, claims to have received threats after posting educational content about the function of helmets. The content, which emphasizes that helmets are designed to protect the head, not to ‘destroy’ it, was allegedly misinterpreted and linked to a case of alleged violence by police officers.
In the case, a member of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) with the initials Bripda MS is suspected of torturing a student with the initials AT (14) to death in Tual, Maluku, on Thursday (February 19, 2026) early in the morning.
Khairul said he received two threats via WhatsApp private messages on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) evening and Wednesday (February 25, 2026) morning. However, the conversation then turned into a warning with threatening undertones.
‘So, the threats were all on WhatsApp. Like what I posted on my story, at first, he claimed to be a fan and so on,’ said Khairul when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
The sender of the message asked Khairul to be careful and advised him to protect himself.
‘It turned out that in the end, he said that I had to wear a helmet, protect myself, and ask me to visit my parents,’ said Khairul.
In the next message, the sender conveyed a sentence that made him feel threatened.
‘It was subtle, very subtle. Because he also said, ’wait, I have a surprise for you’,’ he said.
Khairul admitted that he was increasingly worried because the sender of the message knew his family’s personal data, including his home address and the names of his parents.
He said that even though his family is still safe, the mention of the personal data made him uneasy.
Khairul emphasized that the content he created was purely for education and entertainment. He denied that there was any narrative that mentioned or mocked a specific institution.
