Depok councillors questioned
JAKARTA: Jakarta Police questioned for the second time four former Depok councillors and two councillors, who were just sworn in, and a secretary at the council office on Wednesday over their alleged involvement in a graft case that caused some Rp 9 billion (US$970,612) in losses to the state.
City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said the questioning was focused on the details of the use of the money allocated for the council secretariat.
The seven have been detained since Sept. 6. Police announced on Tuesday they would summon 15 more councillors over the same allegations.
Previous reports said the Rp 9 billion fund was used for housing facilities and life insurance premiums for the councillors. -- JP
