Depok City Government Urges Schools Not to Hold Picnics Masquerading as Study Tours

That directive is set out in Circular Letter No. 400.3.1/3097/Sekret.um/2026 signed by the Head of the Depok City Education Department (Disdik), Wahid Suryono, on 12 May 2026. The guidance follows the West Java Governor’s Circular No. 45/PK.03.03/KESRA on education development to realise learners who cageur, bageur, bener, pinter, tur singer. “Schools are urged not to organise picnics masquerading as study tours if they would lead to additional costs for parents,” Wahid Suryono, Head of Disdik Depok, said, as seen on the Depok city government website, Wednesday (20/5). As an alternative, Wahid added, schools are encouraged to implement innovation-based activities and learning that are more beneficial, such as self-managed waste management, organic farming, farming, livestock, fisheries, and expanding understanding of business and industry worlds. “In addition, graduation or farewell ceremonies at all education levels from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to senior secondary education are not permitted if they would incur additional costs for parents,” he explained. The Depok city government also urged students to bring meals from home, cut back on pocket money, and start saving as a future investment. Through this policy, the Depok city government hopes all education units will comply with the guidance. “Thus, educational activities remain focused on improving learning quality and shaping learners’ character without burdening parents,” he concluded.
