The Depok City Government in West Java has urged migrants to remain orderly in population administration in accordance with applicable regulations. “Depok City is open to anyone who wishes to come and live here, but they must maintain order in population administration,” said the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) Depok, Mary Liziawati, in Depok on Monday. She stated that every Indonesian citizen has the right to choose their place of residence anywhere, as guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution and the Human Rights Law. “Depok is open to anyone. However, we urge every migrant to fulfil their population administration obligations in accordance with the rules,” she said. She explained that for those coming to Depok with the intention of settling, they are required to handle the incoming transfer process and update population documents such as ID cards and Family Cards. Meanwhile, for migrants who are only staying temporarily, such as contract workers, students, or boarding house residents, they are asked to register as non-permanent residents. Non-permanent residents are Indonesian citizens or foreigners who stay outside their ID card/family card domicile for more than 24 hours up to less than one year without the intention of settling. Registration for non-permanent residents can be done online through the Depok Online Service System (Silondo) at the website https://silondo.depok.go.id by preparing original documents such as electronic ID cards/child identity cards or birth certificates, Family Cards, and a letter of introduction from the local neighbourhood association (RT/RW), which are then uploaded as part of the registration process to obtain a number and confirmation. This policy refers to Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation No. 74 of 2022 and aims to facilitate access to public services such as social assistance, health, and education for people staying temporarily. “With orderly administration, we hope that all residents, whether settled or temporary, can be properly recorded and receive optimal services,” she said.
