Depok City Government Proposes Five New Transjabodetabek Routes, Awaits Jakarta's Approval
The Depok City Government in West Java has proposed five new routes for the Transjabodetabek bus service. The Depok Transportation Agency is currently awaiting approval from the Jakarta Provincial Government.
The Secretary of the Depok Transportation Agency, Aan Syurahman, stated that the proposal for the new routes has been submitted since April 2026. He confirmed that coordination has been conducted with the Jakarta Transportation Agency and Transjakarta regarding the operational plans.
“We have coordinated with various parties, including TransJakarta and the Jakarta Transportation Agency. The goal is to expand the Transjabodetabek routes to facilitate the mobility of Depok residents,” said Aan, as reported on the Depok City Government website on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Aan explained that the five proposed new routes include Shila at Sawangan–Lebak Bulus, Sawangan Terminal–Kuningan, Depok Terminal–Cinere–Blok M, and Jatijajar Terminal–Kampung Rambutan. Additionally, there is a proposed adjustment to the Universitas Indonesia–Manggarai route, which previously served the Jatijajar Terminal–Manggarai route.
“Many Depok residents work or carry out activities in Jakarta. Therefore, the development of these routes is expected to serve as a solution to reduce the use of private vehicles and alleviate traffic congestion,” he explained.
He added that the Depok Transportation Agency will prepare bus stops and other necessary supporting infrastructure. Aan expressed hope that the discussion process would be completed soon.
“The addition of bus stops will certainly be carried out as part of the operational support. However, at this stage, we are still focusing on mapping and strengthening the route proposals,” he said.
