Depok City Government Guarantees 2026-2027 Student Admission Free from Seat Buying and Graft

The Depok City Government in West Java has provided a full guarantee that the implementation of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026-2027 academic year at state junior high school (SMPN) level will be conducted cleanly. The city government strictly prohibits all forms of seat buying or gratification in the selection process.

Head of the Depok Education Office, Wahid Suryono, stressed that his department will not tolerate any cheating. If seat buying practices are discovered, the Depok City Government will impose firm sanctions on the perpetrators.

“The Depok City Government firmly guarantees there will be no seat buying or gratification practices in the 2026-2027 SPMB. We will strictly oversee the selection process to ensure it runs cleanly, transparently, and fairly,” Wahid Suryono stated in Depok on Thursday (18/6/2026).

This preventive measure aligns with instructions from the central government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. The central government has emphasised that the SPMB must be free from brokerage practices, internal interventions, and other illegal transactions.

To anticipate a surge in prospective new students for state junior high schools, the Depok Education Office has established cooperation with 49 private junior high schools and Islamic junior high schools (MTs). Wahid explained that increasing quotas cannot be done unilaterally or illegally due to a data locking system.

“Quota increases cannot be done carelessly. We have prepared a system to lock school capacity data through Dapodik once the technical guidelines are established. So, seat buying practices are guaranteed not to exist,” he asserted.

Wahid urged parents to utilise the official online channels. All information regarding procedures, requirements, and selection result announcements can be accessed through the official Depok City SPMB registration website.

For those facing difficulties or wishing to report indications of fraud, the Education Office provides a helpdesk service. “The public can come directly to the Education Office on the 4th Floor of Dibaleka 2 Building, Jalan Margonda Raya Number 54,” he added.

In his closing remarks, Wahid asked parents to be wary of individuals promising admission through “backdoor channels”. He stressed that the entire SPMB process in Depok is guaranteed to be free of charge, transparent, and accountable.

“The PPDB or SPMB issue is sensitive every year, so rumours of seat buying often emerge. We ask parents not to trust individuals who claim they can get students into state schools unofficially,” Wahid concluded.
