The Maung Asri (Superior, Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) team of the Depok City Government conducted an enforcement operation against illegal parking on the pavement of Margonda Raya Street, Depok. A total of 18 motorcycles had their tyres deflated and 2 vehicles were wheel-locked.

“For two-wheeled vehicles that were warned against parking in the wrong direction, 18 vehicles had their tyres deflated and two were locked, namely one private car and one public transport vehicle,” said Maung Asri Team Chairman Tri Sakti Anggoro to journalists on Monday (9 March 2024).

The illegal parking enforcement operation on the Margonda pavement was carried out on Friday (6 March). He stated that the team deployed also provided education to riders to prevent them from parking illegally.

“We provided direct education at the location to two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle riders. The enforcement targeted vehicles parked on the pavement. We adopted a persuasive and humane approach with the community,” he said.

Sakti stated that illegal parking on the Margonda pavement had caused residents considerable distress. He expressed hope that the illegal parking enforcement would restore the pavement’s function for pedestrians.

“We aim to increase public awareness about traffic discipline and the use of public spaces. We want to encourage the development of a culture of orderly traffic behaviour in urban areas,” he concluded.
