Depok City – Arif Rahman Hakim Street in Depok is pockmarked with potholes and uneven surfaces. The acting head of the Depok City Public Works and Public Housing Agency (PUPR), Yodi Joko, said that the status of Arif Rahman Hakim Street remains officially recorded as a national road or central government asset. This means the city government cannot carry out repairs on a road that serves as a main access to Pasar Kemiri Muka and Depok Baru Station. ‘Ideally it should be classified as a national road; however, because there has been no maintenance allocated, we have written to obtain clarity on the road’s status,’ Yodi said when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday (6 March 2026). Earlier, residents complained about Arif Rahman Hakim Street being full of potholes. Kompas.com observations at the site on Thursday, 5 March 2026, showed damage along the stretch from Pasar Kemiri Muka towards Margonda Raya extending about 10-12 metres. The road, only about 4-5 metres wide, displayed a wavy surface with several hole sites filled with rubble and tiles. Some holes were even flooded, with depths of around 3-5 metres. Motorcyclists passing by weaved to avoid puddles that could pose risks to their safety. For minibuses (angkot) or trucks, drivers were also seen proceeding cautiously to minimise the shocks from the pothole-riddled road. One local resident named Toto often observed youths routinely filling holes at the holes. The filling is usually paid for by passing motorists as some holes are 10-15 centimetres deep. ‘It’s because it’s been filled by residents, so it’s not visible; in truth it’s nearly 15 centimetres,’ Toto said at the site on Thursday, 5 March 2026. ‘It has been repaired before but it collapsed again, so now it’s just filled by residents. But when it rains, it becomes muddy and dirty like this,’ he added.
