A video showing a confrontation between parents in Cimanggis, Depok, went viral on social media. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a youth running race competition.

From the video viewed by detikcom, one youth was shown surrounded by residents. One parent of the youth alleged that the young person had committed violence against their child.

“What are you doing F?” the video recorder asked.

“Just go home! Go home!” said a resident.

“Why go home? He already hit my child,” replied the video recorder.

In the viral video, the aggressor in the youth running race was narrated to be a police officer’s child. However, Cimanggis Police Substation (Polsek Cimanggis) confirmed this information was false.

One parent did not accept that their child had been subjected to violence after the running race. The parent claimed they were afraid to report the incident to police because they suspected the aggressor’s parent was a police officer’s relative.

Meanwhile, Cimanggis Police Substation Commander Kompol Jupriono said the incident occurred on Wednesday (25 February) at 21:00 WIB in Curug, Cimanggis, Depok. According to CCTV recordings, the incident resulted from a misunderstanding between parents following a dispute amongst youths participating in the running race.

“A group of children were engaged in a running race activity. From this activity, an unexpected incident was recorded on the CCTV camera of one resident,” Kompol Jupriono stated on Friday (27 February 2026).

Jupriono conveyed that parents had narrated the dispute was caused by a police officer’s child, making them afraid to report the incident to police.

“Based on the video circulating on social media, there was a narrative mentioning that one police officer’s child had committed the unexpected act. This caused the parents to fear reporting the incident to police,” he explained.

Police subsequently conducted an investigation of the crime scene. Upon investigation, no police officer’s child was found to be involved in the misunderstanding between parents regarding the incident.

“However, after the scene investigation and inquiry by Cimanggis Police Substation, there was no child of any police officer among the group of children engaged in the running race activity that caused the misunderstanding between parents,” he stated.

Jupriono noted that the matter had been resolved amicably by the parents of each child involved. A joint statement was drawn up and an apology video was created regarding the circulation of the viral video.

“I apologize because I made a statement about a police officer’s child. I apologise to police officers’ children throughout Indonesia. I did not intend any harm,” said one parent.
