Depok-Bogor 2nd track ready

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Public Works has completed the
construction of a 23-km double track railway from Depok to Bogor,
West Java.

The Ministry spokesman Bambang Utojo said yesterday the Rp 22
billion project is now being tried out.

The double track system will make the trip between Bogor and
Depok safer and faster than the one track system, he said.

It will take less than one hour for the new train to cover
Bogor-Depok. The old train took around 90 minutes to cover the
route, Bambang said.

The project was carried out by state-owned contractor, PT Adhi
Karya. By hiring 120 workers per day the contractor completed
the project five months ahead of schedule, he added.

According to the previous schedule, the project would be
finished in March 1996, but the company completed it in November
this year.

The double track system is equipped with seven bridges and
four intersections. (29)
