Denza Z9S, Electric Sedan with 1,100 km Range to be Launched on 23 September
China (ANTARA) - The BYD Denza Z9S, a new sedan that has set a world record for the longest electric vehicle range of 1,100 km, is scheduled to be officially launched on the market on 23 September 2026.
According to the Carnewschina website, this mid-to-large class electric sedan is positioned as a more compact alternative to the Denza Z9. The Z9S has already opened pre-orders with three variants, with prices ranging from 319,800 yuan (approximately Rp840 million) to 389,800 yuan (around Rp1 billion).
In terms of design, the Z9S features a split headlight configuration, a full-length front panel design, and a two-part front lip. The vehicle is equipped with roof-mounted LiDAR and provides a front boot (frunk) capacity of 120 litres.
Measuring 5,090 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm, the sedan maintains a coupe-like silhouette.
The Z9S will be available in seven exterior colour options, including Morning Purple and Fjord Green, and offers various wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 20 inches. The rear features slim taillights and an active electric spoiler.
Inside, the cabin utilises a circular layout with premium materials such as Nappa leather seats and suede roof lining.
Key features include a magnetic passenger panel, which serves as an interface for attaching accessories such as tablets, headphones, or storage boxes, as well as a 7-inch screen on the rear armrest to control cabin temperature, lighting, and entertainment.
The Z9S is equipped with the “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system, powered by the large 5.0 model. This system supports urban navigation, high-speed driver assistance features, and parking in various scenarios.
The Z9S offers rear-wheel drive configurations with a single motor, as well as all-wheel drive (AWD) with three motors. The single motor delivers a maximum power of 370 kW (496 hp), while the triple-motor setup provides a combined maximum power of 890 kW (1,193 hp).
Equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade battery with capacities of 102.326 kWh and 122.496 kWh, the vehicle achieves ranges based on the CLTC standard of 780 km (632 km WLTP), 920 km (745 km WLTP), and 1,100 km (891 km WLTP) respectively, and is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.68 seconds.
Furthermore, the Z9S utilises the “e3” technology platform, which includes rear-wheel steering as standard with a minimum turning radius of 4.75 metres, a “crab walk” mode, and the DiSus-A intelligent air body control system.
The 1,100 km range currently stands as the world record for the longest electric vehicle range. The previous record holder was also from BYD’s Denza brand, the Z9 GT, which had a range of 1,036 km (839 km WLTP).
