Denza B8 Luxury SUV Debuts in Jakarta, Eyes Indonesian Market
The debut of the Denza B8 at a Haka Auto dealership in Jakarta has caught the attention of local car enthusiasts. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV features a rugged, boxy design typical of premium off-road vehicles. Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Company Motor Indonesia, stated that the presence of the Denza B8 was not without purpose. Beyond introducing a new model, BYD aims to showcase advancements in vehicle technology under the Denza brand. “This is part of introducing our right-hand drive lineup, which indicates the possibility of bringing it to Indonesia,” Luther said in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026. The Denza B8 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with two electric motors, producing up to 578 PS (576 hp) and 760 Nm of torque, with a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds. The SUV features a 4x4 drivetrain and ladder frame construction, enabling it to tackle tough terrain while maintaining premium comfort. Luther highlighted the Denza B8’s key appeal as a blend of rugged capability and luxury in a single vehicle. “Although it is off-road oriented, it remains elegant and includes specific safety features,” Luther said. Other modern features include a 17.3-inch infotainment screen, night vision, premium audio, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability. The SUV also boasts a combined range of over 900 kilometres thanks to its PHEV technology.
