Denza B5 Set to Launch in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Denza B5 has again captured attention after appearing at the BYD Tech-Culture Fest at the South Car Park of the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) in Senayan, Jakarta. Notably, the plug-in hybrid SUV has already appeared in a right-hand-drive version, fueling speculation that its launch in Indonesia is just a matter of time.
Previously, the Denza B5 has also been showcased to the public on several occasions, including at the BCA Expo. The presence of the right-hand-drive unit is seen as a strong sign that the model is being prepared for the Indonesian market.
The Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia said that the Denza B5 is currently in an internal process before its official release.
He also noted that the specifications of the Denza B5 that will be marketed are unlikely to differ significantly from the units that have been exhibited to the public so far.
“It should not be far different from what we have already shown,” he said.
When asked whether the car would be launched in conjunction with the major automotive exhibition this coming July (the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show), Luther did not deny, but he also did not confirm.
“Perhaps we could utilise (the GIIAS exhibition),” he said.
In terms of design, the Denza B5 presents a rugged SUV character with a broad, boxy stance and squared-off lines. The car is also claimed to be capable of traversing water up to 790 mm, making it suitable for a range of road conditions.
Inside, the Denza B5 offers a premium ambience through the use of Nappa leather on all seats. Comfort features such as massage seats, heating, and ventilation are also available for both driver and passengers.
The front electric motor develops 200 kW of power and 360 Nm of torque, while the rear motor delivers 285 kW and 400 Nm of torque.
In terms of safety, the Denza B5 is equipped with a range of modern features such as 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) including Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Keeping Assist.
The arrival of the Denza B5 is expected to further enliven the premium electrified SUV market in Indonesia, particularly in the PHEV segment, which is currently beginning to develop.
