JAKARTA – Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD Motor Indonesia has signaled a strong likelihood of introducing the Denza B5 to the Indonesian market in 2026. The off-road-styled electric SUV has immediately captured public attention since its debut. Despite high consumer enthusiasm, BYD has stated it has not yet opened pre-orders for the Denza B5. ‘Yes, the B5 is certainly one of the models we are very likely to bring to Indonesia,’ said Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, in Jakarta (25/5/2026). He noted that public response to the Denza B5 has been even higher than for the Denza B8 model, which was also previously introduced in Indonesia. BYD deliberately took the Denza B5 to off-road testing arenas to showcase its true capabilities on challenging terrain. ‘You can see it actively participating in off-road activities and obstacles, clearly demonstrating it is a proper vehicle for those who love off-roading,’ he said. ‘Indeed, some people have expressed interest in pre-ordering, but we are focusing on demonstrating the vehicle’s experience and capabilities first,’ Luther added. He explained that BYD’s primary focus is showcasing the robust technology embedded in the Denza B5, particularly the DMO platform. The DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) platform is BYD’s super hybrid technology designed specifically for off-road vehicles and pickups. It combines electric motor efficiency with internal combustion engines to deliver optimal performance across varying road conditions. Additionally, the DMO platform is claimed to offer up to 35% better fuel efficiency compared to conventional off-road vehicles, with a combined range of 1,200 km. The Denza B5 is also equipped with advanced adaptive suspension that adjusts ground clearance and damping in real-time based on terrain, ensuring comfort both on highways and extreme trails.
