Denza B5 PHEV: Claims Positive Reception Since Initial Launch

JAKARTA — SUV plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Denza B5 is beginning to attract attention in Indonesia’s automotive market. Although only recently introduced to the public, consumer response to the model has been described as fairly positive.

Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, stated that Indonesian consumers’ interest in new vehicles is quite high. “Indonesian consumers typically have high interest, one of the most important factors being price. We (BYD) and dealers are providing price estimates, which could be higher or lower, but BYD is strongly committed to pricing, so it is hoped the price will not deviate too far from the price indication we have given to the public,” Luther said when met in Central Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.

To date, the official price of the Denza B5 has not been announced. However, based on information from BYD sales personnel, the estimated price of the SUV is in the range of 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion rupiah.

According to Luther, the high level of public attention toward the Denza B5 has somewhat surprised BYD. This is because the model targets a relatively niche segment with a price range above 1 billion rupiah. “We were quite surprised because the Denza B5 market is quite niche, and given that the price indication has exceeded 1 billion rupiah, there has actually been considerable attention, especially at the BCA expo. Many of them are very interested in making down payments and pre-orders. Therefore, we are very motivated to launch in Indonesia. Regarding the number of orders, we are still calculating,” said Luther.

Several dealers have already begun accepting pre-orders for the model. Prospective consumers who are interested can make bookings by paying a deposit of 50 million rupiah.

In terms of appearance, the Denza B5 features an SUV design with a bold character. Its body proportions are large with exterior lines that tend to be angular, giving it a robust impression.
