Jakarta, VIVA – Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has once again denied rumours concerning his resignation from the position of Finance Minister. He expressed shock at the widespread nature of these reports, noting that he did not expect the news to spread so extensively across various media outlets.

Purbaya emphasised that he has never had any intention of leaving his current role as State Treasurer. “It seems to have been spread massively across all media,” Purbaya stated during the APBN KiTa press conference at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Friday, 5 June 2026.

He further asserted that rather than planning to step down as Finance Minister, he is instead striving to advance the management of state finances. “I am not someone who likes to retreat. I prefer to move forward like this. Therefore, there is no such plan, that issue,” he remarked.

Purbaya argued that the prevalence of news, including leaflets or documents containing information about him that evolved into resignation rumours, is the result of distorted information. This has led to negative public perception and the continuous spread of rumours regarding his departure from the Ministry of Finance.

“I have also read those leaflets. Some of the information is correct, but some is also wrong. People are indeed clever at twisting information there,” said Purbaya. “So it appears to be true. Because on every paper, the sentence stating that I attended a meeting with the President is true. But parts of it are twisted to imply otherwise. Perhaps it is intended to cause market volatility,” he added.
