Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Cilandak Community Health Centre in South Jakarta has recorded dental health issues as the dominant finding in the free health check (CKG) screening service, with patients experiencing a variety of complaints.

“Specifically for dental health, the detection rate is quite striking, reaching nearly 90% with the main complaints being tartar and cavities,” said the Head of the Cilandak Sub-District Community Health Centre, Sunersi Handayani, when met during the CKG service at the Cilandak Community Health Centre in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Sunersi said that based on screening results in the Cilandak area, there are three main health problems most commonly found: hypertension, obesity, and dental health issues.

The dental health problems that dominate are tartar and cavities, discovered during examinations.

“The main challenge of this CKG is the public’s understanding of the importance of routine screening. We continue to carry out ongoing socialisation, from educating on the benefits to the online registration process so that the public can attend on time,” she said.

Through this programme, Sunersi hopes that the public will be more concerned and proactive in conducting independent health checks as a form of appreciation for a better quality of life.

“To ensure stable achievements, we continue to conduct routine evaluations every quarter so that all layers of society in the Cilandak area can be reached by this screening programme,” she said.

CKG is a screening effort to identify the community’s health conditions as early as possible. The programme aims for quicker and more accurate handling if health problems are found.

The programme, initially launched as a birthday gift from the President, has now transformed. Currently, residents no longer need to wait for their birthday to get health checks.

The CKG service at the Cilandak Community Health Centre is divided into two types: quick package CKG, which is conducted at the community level such as posyandu, taklim assemblies, and RW neighbourhoods. The process takes less than one hour, including blood sugar checks, weight, and height.

Meanwhile, for complete CKG, it is carried out at the community health centre with more comprehensive examinations, including laboratory tests and dental health. This check-up takes about half a day.
