Tangerang — A nurse at a dental clinic in the Total Persada residential area, Periuk, Tangerang city, became the victim of a stabbing carried out by a patient identified as MA on Saturday, 30 May 2026.

The incident caused considerable alarm amongst nearby residents as it occurred at a healthcare facility and was perpetrated by a patient who had just undergone tartar removal treatment.

Police arrested the suspect on the same day, but the motive behind the stabbing remains mysterious.

The victim, who sustained injuries to the abdomen and hands, is still undergoing treatment with an improving condition.

Jatiuwung Police Sub-District Commander Kompol Rabiin stated that MA has admitted to the act during questioning. The suspect also confessed to bringing the knife used in the stabbing from home.

However, police remain cautious in pursuing the suspect’s account. According to Rabiin, during questioning, MA has largely remained silent, preventing investigators from fully determining the reason behind his actions.

“We are currently conducting in-depth questioning because when questioned, he tends to remain silent. So we need to be very thorough and cautious,” he said.

However, more than two days on, the suspect continues to refuse to speak regarding his purpose for committing the act.

Based on preliminary investigation findings, MA came to the clinic as a new patient to undergo tartar removal treatment. Rabiin stated that the dentist who treated the suspect had no prior relationship or treatment history with MA.

The incident has prompted heightened concern about security measures at healthcare facilities and patient screening procedures.
