Densus 88 Inmates Trained in Sheep and Goat Agribusiness for Economic Independence

The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Cinagara Animal Health Training Centre (BBPKH), has partnered with the Directorate of Identification and Social Affairs (Idensos) of Densus 88 to deliver an Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Training programme for sheep and goats. The event, held in Bogor on Tuesday (30/6/2026), aims to equip inmates with technical competencies and economic self-reliance. The vocational training was attended by 30 participants, who are inmates under the supervision of Densus 88 from various regions, including West Java, Jakarta, the Special Region of Yogyakarta, South Sumatra, and Jambi, accompanied by task force officials. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that developing human resources is a main pillar in creating an advanced, independent, and modern agricultural sector. He noted that the Ministry of Agriculture continues to encourage the birth of agricultural human resources who are not only technically skilled but also possess an entrepreneurial spirit. Inneke Kusumawaty, Head of BBPKH Cinagara, explained that the small ruminant livestock sub-sector offers promising economic prospects, especially following the policy of restricting imports of live sheep and goats and carcasses to protect local farmers. She added that the current challenge for the national livestock industry lies in creating added value through an integrated downstream programme. The participants were directed to master modern livestock management covering competencies such as breeding and cultivation technology, feed management, animal health management, commercial downstream processing, and cooperative-based business independence. Representing the Director of Idensos Densus 88, the Head of the West Java Task Force, Commissioner Bogie Sugiarto, stated that this skills training plays a crucial role in the social reintegration programme for inmates. He expressed hope that the participants would understand the entire agribusiness process of sheep and goats, providing them with the opportunity to work or establish independent and sustainable businesses after completing their guidance period.
