Densus 88: Bomb Threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Not Classified as Criminal Act of Terrorism
The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror of the Indonesian National Police has stated that the suspected bomb threat targeting SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, does not yet fulfil the elements of a criminal act of terrorism. Densus 88 Anti-terror spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, explained that this conclusion was reached after the unit conducted an in-depth investigation together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Gegana Bomb Squad of the Mobile Brigade Corps. “The results of the investigation concluded that the incident does not yet meet the elements of a criminal act of terrorism,” Mayndra said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday (14/7). The joint team examined various aspects, including the perpetrator’s motive, funding streams, and possible connections to global or domestic terrorism networks. However, the investigation results showed no links to any terror network. As no elements of terrorism were found, Mayndra stated that the handling of the threat case has now been transferred to regional authority. “Therefore, further handling will be carried out by the Metro Jaya Regional Police, in this case the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” he added. Although the handling has been delegated to the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Densus 88 emphasised that it remains on standby. The unit continues to monitor and coordinate with regional units and relevant agencies to anticipate potential threats that could disrupt public security. “Every piece of information developing in the field will continue to be investigated by officers in accordance with applicable procedures,” Mayndra stressed. Finally, Densus 88 urged the public to remain calm and not be easily influenced by unverified information. Residents are asked to continue their activities as usual while remaining vigilant. “If you find suspicious information or activities, the public is expected to immediately report it to the police so that it can be followed up quickly and appropriately,” he concluded.
