Densus 88: Bomb Threat at SDN Srengseng Does Not Meet Terrorism Criteria
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police’s Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terrorism Unit has stated that the suspected bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi state primary school in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, does not meet the elements of a terrorism offence.
“The findings of our investigation concluded that the incident does not meet the elements of a criminal act of terrorism,” said Densus 88 spokesperson Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday.
Mayndra explained that the conclusion was reached after Densus 88 conducted an inquiry together with the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police and the Gegana unit of the Police Mobile Brigade Corps.
The joint team had previously carried out an in-depth examination of various aspects, ranging from the motive, funding, to the possibility of connections with terrorism networks.
As no links to terror networks were found, Mayndra said the handling of the threat case would be handed over to the territorial authorities.
Although the handling has been delegated, Mayndra stressed that Densus 88 remains on standby.
He added that the unit continues to carry out monitoring and coordination with territorial units and relevant agencies in order to anticipate any potential threats that could disrupt public security.
“Every piece of information emerging on the ground will continue to be examined by officers in accordance with applicable procedures,” he said.
Meanwhile, Densus 88 also called on the public to remain calm, not to be easily swayed by unverified information, and to continue their activities as usual.
“If people find suspicious information or activity, they are expected to report it immediately to the police so that it can be followed up quickly and appropriately,” said Mayndra.
