Densus 88 Arrests Two Terror Suspects in Ciamis and Lampung, Confirms Same Network

Jakarta, VIVA – The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Unit of the National Police has arrested two men suspected of involvement in terrorist activities in two separate regions, namely Ciamis Regency, West Java, and Bandar Lampung.

The two suspects are said to originate from the same network. Spokesperson for Densus 88 Antiterror, Police Grand Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, said the arrest of a man with the initials AR was carried out in Ciamis on Monday, 20 July 2026.

In addition, officers also secured a man with the initials H in Bandar Lampung. “There is also a case in Lampung, the same one. Initials H, in Bandar Lampung,” said Mayndra when contacted on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

Regarding the operation in Ciamis, Mayndra confirmed that Densus 88 had secured a man with the initials AR.

“Densus 88 Antiterror of the National Police has carried out an enforcement operation against a man with the initials AR in Ciamis Regency, West Java,” he said.

According to Mayndra, both arrests form part of law enforcement efforts based on the results of investigation and inquiry into alleged propaganda activities, recruitment, and incitement through social media.

“During the process, investigators found the dissemination of various materials containing narratives of radicalism and terrorism, as well as the legitimisation of violence,” he said.

He emphasised that all actions taken by Densus 88 were based on valid evidence and remained grounded in prevailing legal provisions.

Mayndra also assured that every law enforcement process was carried out while upholding the presumption of innocence and respect for human rights.

Furthermore, Densus 88 invited the public to play an active role in preventing the spread of radical ideology, particularly through digital spaces.

“Densus 88 Antiterror of the National Police also calls on the public to remain active in countering the spread of extremism, radicalism and terrorism through digital spaces. The public is expected not to be easily influenced by content containing incitement to hatred, justification of violence, or terrorist group propaganda,” he said.

To date, Densus 88 has not provided further details on the roles of each suspect or the evidence secured during the operation. Investigators are still continuing to delve into the case.
