Densus 88 Arrests Two Terror Suspects in Ciamis and Lampung, Confirms Same Network

The Indonesian National Police’s Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror unit has arrested two men suspected of involvement in terrorism activities in two different regions, namely Ciamis Regency, West Java, and Bandar Lampung. The two suspects are said to originate from the same network. Densus 88 Anti-terror Police Spokesman, Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, stated that the arrest was made against a man with the initials AR in Ciamis on Monday, 20 July 2026. In addition, officers also detained a man with the initials H in Bandar Lampung. “There is also a similar case in Lampung. The initials H in Bandar Lampung,” Mayndra said when confirmed on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. Regarding the action in Ciamis, Mayndra confirmed that Densus 88 had detained a man with the initials AR. “Densus 88 Anti-terror Police has carried out enforcement action against a man with the initials AR in the Ciamis Regency area, West Java,” he said. According to Mayndra, both arrests are part of a law enforcement process conducted based on the results of inquiries and investigations into alleged propaganda, recruitment, and incitement activities via social media. “In the process, investigators found the dissemination of various materials containing narratives of radicalism and terrorism, and the legitimisation of violence,” he said. He stressed that all actions taken by Densus 88 were based on valid evidence and continue to prioritise applicable legal provisions. Mayndra also ensured that every law enforcement process is carried out while upholding the principle of presumption of innocence and respect for human rights. Furthermore, Densus 88 invites the public to play an active role in preventing the spread of radical ideologies, especially through the digital space. “Densus 88 Anti-terror Police also urges the public to remain active in fighting the spread of extremism, radicalism, and terrorism through the digital space. The public is expected not to be easily influenced by content containing calls for hatred, justification of violence, or terrorist group propaganda,” he said. To date, Densus 88 has not provided further details regarding the respective roles of the suspects or the evidence seized in the operation. Investigators are still continuing to deepen the case.
