Densus 88 Arrests Terror Propaganda Distributor in Bandar Lampung
The National Police’s counter-terrorism squad, Detasemen Khusus (Densus) 88, arrested a man with the initial H in Bandar Lampung on Monday (20/7). Densus 88 spokesperson Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana stated that the suspect H is part of the same network as a perpetrator with the initials AR, who was previously arrested in Ciamis, West Java. “One person with the initials H was arrested in Bandar Lampung. The case is the same as the one in Ciamis,” he told reporters on Wednesday (22/7). Based on his role, Commissioner Mayndra explained, the suspect H was involved in propaganda, recruitment, and incitement activities through social media platforms. He added that the suspect also frequently distributed content containing violence. “Investigators discovered the dissemination of various materials containing radicalism and terrorism narratives, as well as the legitimisation of violence,” he said. He explained that investigators are currently examining the suspect intensively to uncover other networks that may be involved. Furthermore, Commissioner Mayndra urged the public not to be easily influenced by content containing hate speech, justifications for violence, or terrorist group propaganda. “If you find suspicious activity on social media, the public can report it to law enforcement officials so that it can be followed up in accordance with applicable regulations,” he concluded.
