Densus 88 Arrests Suspected Terrorist AR in Ciamis, Seizes Books and Mobile Phone

Indonesia’s elite counter-terrorism unit, Densus 88, has arrested a man with the initials AR on suspicion of involvement in criminal acts of terrorism in Ciamis Regency, West Java. The operation took place in Sukaharja Village, Rajadesa District, on Monday, 20 July 2026, accompanied by personnel from the Ciamis Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

Head of the Ciamis Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Carsono, confirmed the law enforcement action. He stated that the operation began around 6:00 AM local time and involved his personnel assisting Densus 88. ‘It is true, on Monday at around 6:00 AM WIB, the Ciamis Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with Densus 88 carried out a law enforcement action regarding an alleged criminal act of terrorism in the Ciamis Regency area,’ Carsono said at the Ciamis Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

Based on field monitoring, the man arrested is a resident of Sukaharja Village, Rajadesa District, Ciamis Regency. Following the arrest, the Densus 88 team conducted a search of the location. During the search, officers seized several items believed to be related to the investigation, including books, a number of documents or writings, and the suspect’s mobile phone.

Carsono emphasised that the Ciamis Police only provided support during the field operation. The entire investigation process is fully under the authority of Densus 88. Consequently, he was unable to provide further details regarding the suspect’s alleged involvement, potential network connections, or the origin of the investigation’s development.
