Densus 88 Arrests 11 Terrorism Suspects from West Java to North Maluku, Detailing Their Roles
The Indonesian National Police’s Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-Terrorism unit has successfully arrested 11 suspected terrorists during a series of law enforcement operations conducted across six provinces since Friday (2/10/2026).
Spokesperson for Densus 88 AT Polri, Kombes Pol. Mayndra Eka Wardhana, stated that the six provinces involved are West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku.
A total of 11 suspects were detained, identified by the initials HN (43), SM alias NM (52), HA (45), YDKAP (22), Y (36), S (49), A (32), CG (29), MF (37), AF (26), and MW (42).
“The suspects are suspected to have links to networks affiliated with the Daulah Islamiyah ideology, as well as other terrorist networks,” he said.
Mayndra revealed that the suspects held various roles, ranging from network consolidation, training activities, and the dissemination of propaganda and recruitment—both in person and via social media—to involvement in conspiracies for terrorist criminal acts.
Following the arrests, Densus 88 AT Polri carried out a series of investigative actions, including searches, the seizure and examination of evidence, as well as the interrogation of witnesses and suspects.
Mayndra disclosed that preliminary investigations indicate connections between suspects across different regions, particularly through online meetings used for indoctrination, network consolidation, and coaching activities.
“One pattern identified is the organisation of online meetings that virtually connect several supporters of Daulah Islamiyah from various regions,” he stated.
Furthermore, evidence of training activities was found among some suspects, including physical training, shooting practice, and other activities related to terrorist militancy.
Regarding the possibility of other networks, Mayndra noted that the investigation process is ongoing.
“Investigators will further examine the evidence found and the connections of each suspect to other individuals or networks,” he said.
He also emphasised that this law enforcement action is part of the National Police’s efforts in early detection and prevention of potential terrorist actions, including preventing the processes of consolidation, propaganda, recruitment, coaching, and the enhancement of capabilities that could escalate into acts of violence.
